He
aim of this site is to provide
anyone with plans to have one
or more Web pages indexed in the
major Search Engines, with a means
to have at least some link popularity,
for FREE. Webmasters who have
some pages indexed already but
are looking to increase their
web site ranking results and pagerank
will also find free useful help
here. Building link popularity
is an integral part of Search
Engine Optimisation of your page
(or site). More information on
free Search Engine Optimisation
can be found on our top ranking
article here.
But first: what is link popularity
exactly?
Link popularity is the Internet
equivalent of the so-called Citation
Index of the scientific community.
Anytime a member of the community
publishes an article or paper,
he or she will cite (or quote
of refer to) a number of other
related articles. Similarly, provided
the newly published article is
relevant to its subject, in time
the article will be cited by other
new publications. The Citation
Index, which obviously varies
in time, merely reflects the number
of citations a given article receives
from other articles. It's easy
to understand that for example
Albert Einsein's original paper
on the theory of relativity will
have enjoyed a very high Citation
Index for probably several decades.
Now, when we mentioned "link popularity
is the Internet equivalent of
the so-called Citation Index"
we were over simplifying. In fact,
link popularity is a means, not
an end. What webmasters are really
after is the highest pagerank
possible and they do so by seeking
link popularity. It's really the
pagerank that is the equivalent
of the Citation Index, rather
than link popularity itself. Similarly
to the Citation Index, a page
will score a high pagerank if
many other pages cite it, that
is, provide a link (a URL) to
it.
But when it comes to getting a
high pagerank there is much more
to it than simply getting a large
number of pages link back to you.
The exact (mathematical) meaning
of pagerank and how it is calculated
by Search Engines is outside the
scope of this article but many
excellent pages explaining pagerank
in great detail can be found on
the Web. Simply search for "pagerank".
Basically, to calculate pagerank
of a given page for every incoming
link the following factors
are taken into account:
- the pagerank of of the page
providing the incoming link: the
higher it is the more the incoming
link will contribute to your page's
pagerank. Call pagerank
of the page providing the incoming
link PR.
- the number of other pages
the page providing the
incoming link links to:
the higher the number of other
pages that page links to the lesser
the incoming link will contribute
to your page's pagerank. Call
the number of other pages
the page providing the incoming
link links to N.
The ratio PR/N is the contribution
of that particular page providing
that particular incoming link
to your page's pagerank.
Your total pagerank is essentially
the sum of all contributions made
by all incoming links, i.e. (PR/N)1
+ (PR/N)2 +
... (PR/N)n, for
incoming links 1, 2,... n. It
is really all a little more complicated
than that but you're getting the
gist.
For instance the algorithm used
by Google attributes a default
pagerank of about
0.15 to your page even if you
haven't got a single incoming
link.
Now, let's
get some PageRank
From the
introduction you can see that we're
assuming your page has either not
been indexed yet or has a very low
pagerank. We don't need to explain
what a higher pagerank can do for
your web site ranking results, once
your site finally gets it into the
Search Engine's index. However,
high pagerank and high
page ranking (web site ranking
results) are by no means synonymous.
Getting a good pagerank value is
an important part of getting good
web site ranking results, but is
is by no means the only one! We
have personally had pages indexed
and ranked straight to #1 on their
relevant search term, with only
the default 0.15 PR: really good
content can beat any competing
web page even if it has a much higher
PR than your page. However, in
the long run your position is very
vulnerable without at least a modest
PR.
The easiest way of improving your
PR is by gaining some link popularity
and the easiest way of doing that
is by means of reciprocal linking:
offer a link to someone else's page
in return for a link from their
page to yours. Sounds easy enough??
Unfortunately for total beginners
who's page has not been indexed
yet or have only the default 0.15
PR, it is much like the chicken
and the egg situation. Without any
PR no one is really interested in
reciprocating links with you because
it will not improve their own PR.
A case of "to those who have shall
be given" if we've ever seen one!
We are personally willing to help
you out of this conundrum by offering
reciprocal links from/to our pages
even if your page isn't indexed
yet or has only the default 0.15
PR. Are we certified mad, Internet
fried our brains? No, not at all.
We believe in that rather cheesy
saying "From small acorns, mighty
oaks grow".
How does that apply here? Well,
when you submit your request for
reciprocal links to boost your link
popularity and pagerank, we will
firstly check if your page(s) are
sufficiently optimised for good
web site ranking results. If we
feel they are not you will receive
free advice on how to improve your
page(s). Please note that we reply
to ALL enquiries, usually within
48 h, and have an acceptance rate
of 95%. So why wait...?
If we feel your page(s) have been
sufficiently optimised then we feel
reasonably sure your page will soon
be indexed with a good ranking,
making the page much more attractive
to other webmasters to exchange
links with. Your link popularity
and pagerank will increase gradually
and... so will ours!
Links are offered in the form of
100 - 150 character long descriptions
with the URL to your page embedded
in the description. This creates
a more professional image and increases
content of this page. See examples
of such links at the end of this
page.
A final note. It is important to
exchange links with sites with a
subject that is related to the theme
of your page, without the exchanging
pages being in direct competition
with each other.
Here are some of the pages we are
willing to exchange links from.
New pages are regularly added, so
