Search Engine Optimisation: (express.) the process of preparing a web
page to achieve the highest possible rankings in Search Engine listings.
Introduction to Search Engine Optimisation:
You've guessed: we detest hype! Do we really still have to explain the advantage of getting your site listed and ranked
highly under its search terms? We feel you already understand that without a steady
flow of low cost, highly targeted visitors not many Internet businesses will be long
lived. Effective Search Engine Marketing has become the most important tool to achieve that goal.
Before we show you our offer (go there now), let us first tell you what
you WON'T get from us:
Search Engine Optimisation doesn't mean:
1. Hype (what's in a name): exaggerated claims, raising customers' level of
expectations beyond the reasonable, or any other form of hard sell advertising which
never delivers what it promises and often leaves customers feeling they've definitely
spent more than the service proved to be worth in the first place. There is enough of
all of that on the Web as it is, without us adding more of the same! skip this section
Search Engine Optimisation doesn't mean:
2. "Guaranteed" top #1, top #5 or top whatever ranking results: anybody promising
"guaranteed" ranking results either doesn't know what they're talking about or is leading
you up the garden path with their hand in your wallet! But let us prove these bold
assertions first. There are two COMPELLING reasons why "guaranteed" ranking
results never were and never will be on the cards:
First COMPELLING argument against "guaranteed" ranking results:
When you place an advert for a certain price, you basically buy advertising space with certain
characteristics (No of impressions, size, colour or B/W, HTML or plain text, graphics or
not, position of advert, etc.). Whoever you buy the ad space from also controls the advertising
medium you choose to advertise with, whether it is a classifieds page, a TV channel,
an ezine, a glossy magazine or whatever. The owner of the medium can therefore, for the
agreed price, guarantee you a full 100% that your ad will appear when, where and how you
both agreed.
But a Search Engine Optimisation outfit most clearly DOES NOT
own the Search
Engine(s) for which they are optimising your page(s) and therefore
SIMPLY CANNOT "guarantee" the placement your optimised page(s) will receive.
Sure, optimising your page(s) will almost certainly lead to a great improvement in your
ranking results but the final ranking cannot be predicted. Google states quite clearly
in their guidelines that "Google cannot be bought". Yahoo's express service at $299 will
not even assure inclusion, let alone high placement!
But don't take it from us: get it from the horse's mouth: Google's
advice on Search Engine Optimisation.
Last but not least, Search Engines are in a constant state of flux, with new pages
being added regularly, others dropping out. The core of the Engines ranking mechanism,
the algorithm, also changes over time. All of these factors contribute to web site ranking
results being dynamic rather than static.
Second COMPELLING argument against "guaranteed" ranking results: Relatively recently,
a new element in the way Search Engines review a page(s) and assess whether it should be
included in the index and what ranking should be attributed, has emerged. This new
parameter has gained considerable weight and now influences page ranking results
certainly as much as any other aspect of your page(s).
Developed by Google, PageRankTM is essentially designed to be a measure of how related
pages or sites value your page or site. This "vote of confidence" given to your page
or site by others that have related themes, is often confused with link popularity.
Whilst it is true that high PageRankTM cannot be achieved without considerable link
popularity, the latter alone will not contribute much to high PageRankTM and hence
high page rankings. Simply put, harvesting hundreds if not thousands of undiscriminating
incoming links is not the best strategy to achieve high PageRankTM.
The most important point to make here though, is a different one . A Search Engine
Optimisation firm can "engineer" NEITHER high link popularity NOR high PageRankTM,
not "overnight" but not over a longer period of time either. Developing and nurturing
link popularity is something only the owner of the page(s) can do. Hence the Search
Engine Optimisation expert has no control over a parameter (PageRankTM) that influences
page ranking results very strongly and therefore is not in a position to "guarantee"
any given results.
There are some very unscrupulous Search Engine Optimisation outfits around who do claim
that they can conjure up massive PageRankTM overnight, usually to the tune of $1,000 to
$5,000. This usually involves domain name farming, mirror sites, "hub of authority"
creation and much other smoke and mirrors stuff, all of which is considered "spam" by most
Search Engine and will get your pages dropped out of the Search Engines the moment
you've been found out. Don't buy the snake oil! skip this section
Search Engine Optimisation doesn't mean:
3. Search Engine "trickery" or "spam":
As indicated above, many webmasters have tried to "trick" the Search Engines, often
in collusion with dubious Search Engine Optimisation outfits. Whilst such practices may
well have paid off for short periods of time in the past, today trying to "fool" the
spiders into believing your site is something it really isn't, is really only a recipe
for being dropped from the Search Engine index altogether. At No-hype-SEO we stay well
clear from any methods of optimisation that are or might be perceived to be in any way
Search Engine spam.
Finally, if you feel that perhaps we're over emphasising the fact that there are many unscrupulous
SEO scams "out there" then we feel sure reading this

How we do what we do:
Keywords (Search terms) optimisation:
Keywords are literally the key to your Search Engine marketing success.
Or as someone else put it:
"Target the wrong keywords and all your efforts will be in vain."
Brent Winters, President
FirstPlace Software, Inc
We will evaluate your current set of keywords and suggest an alternative set.
The choice of keywords will be based on achieving the highest possible relevancy,
as well as the highest possible amount of targeted visitors (see also Traffic prediction).
(back to offer)
Content optimisation:
Content is King! This quote actually comes from a Search Engine's guidelines and it couldn't be more true.
We will optimise the content of your page by achieving optimal keyword density
for all of the keywords. Keyword density is one of the most important criteria used by
Search Engines to determine relevancy of your keywords to the general theme of your
page(s).
(back to offer)
TITLE and META tags optimisation:
Choosing the right title for your page is one of the most important aspects of
Search Engine optimisation and it is not as obvious as it might seem. Similarly getting
the right "Keyword" and "Description" tags for your page(s) is equally important.
Some Search Engines use the Description" tag in the display of your listing, making
the right choice even more important: it's what searchers will see first when they
find your listing!
(back to offer)
ALT and title tags optimisation:
Using the ALT tags is about more than just "keyword stuffing", a practice that will
almost certainly lower your rankings because it smells of "spam". Correct use of ALT
tags however can increase your keyword density, especially for pages that have a limited
amount of coherent content (naturally readable text), such as sales pages, catalogues etc.
The "title" tag (not to be confused with the TITLE tag) is a relatively little known tag
intended for use in browsers for searchers with impaired hearing. Use of the title tag is
not only courteous but can have the same effect as correct use of the ALT tag.
(back to offer)
Code check:
Spiders love nothing better than clean code, preferably with a high number of visible
words (readable text). A simple "clean up" of your page HTML code can improve "spiderability" a lot.
Also, strategic use of the H5...H1 tags to indicate headers, rather
that the now often abused "font" tag can highlight certain keywords and keyphrases,
increasing their relevancy compared to the main body of text. We also conduct an
exhaustive spell check.
(back to offer)
Broken links check:
Few things upset spiders more than broken links. We will check your page(s) for broken
links and suggest ways to mend the links.
(back to offer)
Crawler page creation:
When submitting your site to Search Engines it's not necessary to submit every single page. We will
create a crawler page (or site map if you like) and suggest where to place a link
to it on your most trafficked page. Spiders will find the link and crawl every page
on it.
(back to offer)
Robots page creation: (if applicable)
In the same way as the crawler pages tells spiders which pages you would like them to
index, the robots.txt file tells spiders which pages you DON'T want them to crawl. After all, do you
really want the "contact us" or "about us" pages to be indexed? Pages (or entire folders) containing
nothing but affiliate links are also not worth having crawled because they won't get indexed. Look good
by saving the spiders some time!
(back to offer)
Full reporting:
We will issue reports on our findings on all of the above aspects. Intermediate
reports are intended to help you decide on implementation of our recommendations.
(back to offer)
Implementation:
Needless to say we assist fully in the implementation of our recommendations. However,
we feel that our customers should remain fully in control of implementation at all times.
To that effect, we issue status reports accompanied by a test version of the optimised
page hosted in our test domain, for you to evaluate. Based on your feedback we will
implement part or all of our recommendations. If you need help uploading the new page(s),
we will do this for you, free of charge.
(back to offer)
Traffic prediction:
We will estimate traffic you would receive from Google for the three most important
search terms of your page(s) for positions #1, #10, #20 and #30.
(back to offer)
Professional submission to over 1,000 Search engines:
We out source this service to a reliable partner and provide you with a full report.
Includes hand submission to the Top 20 Engines. To view a list of search engines

(back to offer)
Link popularity advice:
No, as indicated earlier we can unfortunately not build link popularity for you but
we will offer invaluable advice on how to reach considerable link popularity and
PageRank in a couple of months time.(back to offer)
Our Commitments to Your Page(s):
Being an e-commerce business ourselves, we understand all too well the needs of other
Internet based businesses. Too often the need for ever increasing sales is confounded with the need for
ever increasing traffic. Traffic however is a means, not an end! A thousand visitors at
a conversion rate of 1% would result in 10 sales. 500 more targeted visitors yielding a 5% conversion rate
would result in 25 sales! Both visitor numbers and conversion rates will affect sales revenue
in different ways.
Much the same way the choice of the right keywords can make the difference between
high but less targeted traffic or a little less traffic but more targeted. We never forget
it's customers your business needs, not just visitors!
That principle can be called "usability". What good is a site that has been 100% optimised for
Search Engine spiders but has no power to convert human visitors into hopefully lifelong
customers? True Search Engine Optimisation strikes the right balance between "spiderability"
and "usabulity".
Last but not least: if you're still sitting on the fence about ordering a search engine optimisation
campaign then please consider the following. Search Engine Optimisation has probably the highest
possible ROI of any marketing campaign you may ever embark upon. Your higher rankings will soon
pay themselves back, after which the extra business just becomes pure profit! Whilst other marketing
methods with high ROI require a constant advertising spend, Search Engine Optimisation only
requires a one time investment.

What our customers say:
"The Internet arm of our physical world business never got off to a flying start.
Despite getting a pro to design our site, six months after launch sales were dismal and we were about to
pull the plug. We came across No-hype-SEO more or less by accident and haven't looked back since!
Thanks to their search engine optimisation we have been able to cancel our expensive PPC campaign and still get
more Internet sales than ever"
Jurgen Baumeister, Aachen (Germany)
"When we had a page set up to support our family hotel business, we were half expecting
the phone to never stop ringing and our e-mail inbox to be bursting with reservations. How wrong can you be?
We started spending money on promotion of the page but found that the advertising cost
simply gobbled up any profits we made from the extra reservations. Somebody mentioned
Search Engine optimisation and suggested No-hype-SEO. We decided to take the plunge.
Best advertising money we've ever spent: now we get a regular flow of reservations at very low
cost. Talk about ROI!"
Paul L. Lindsey, Montana (US)
"After I was made redundant with nice golden handshake, I decided to try my luck by setting
up an e-commerce business. I was no novice to the Internet, so I did most things myself, leaving me with more
money to spend on high ROI spends, or so I thought. Realising the importance of high search engine rankings
and wanting to get established quickly, I commissioned a site optimisation package of well over $1,000
with a firm promising "instant results". Instead of seeing my site rise through the ranks I saw it being dropped
from all the majors, so much for an instant result! I now needed someone to clear up the mess and decided to
have No-hype-SEO do the job. It certainly restored my confidence in (some) SEO sites, No-hype-SEO cleaned up
and tuned up and my site is getting ever higher rankings."
Andrew Welch, Kent (UK)
"What can I say? I set up a small site selling collectables about a year ago. Things were
really slow at first and Internet advertizing turned out to be expensive and labor intensive.
I had practically no presence in the major search engines despite submitting often. No-hype-SEO showed me I was
targetting the wrong keywords and wasn't using half the arsenal available to increase page relevancy.
Their overhaul didn't make the site look any different to visitors but spiders loved the "new look".
Steady, targeted, low cost traffic at their prices? It's just marvellous! "
Aaron Blumfelt, NY (US) (back to offer)
